Reflections on Leadership
The easiest part of setting up my Wix account was typing in my email and creating a password. One of the more challenging parts of creating my Wix account was deciding what type of profile I wanted to use and choosing between the different layouts and themes. I wanted to choose a profile layout that was sleek and minimal yet attention-grabbing at the same time. I am particularly excited to create my Wix page, as this will provide me with a platform to organize and showcase the various projects that I have previously worked on as well as my future projects for the class. The area that I am most concerned about is my writing skills. I am very skilled with visual design however; I have not practiced much with writing articles or blogs. I hope to develop some writing skills with this project and learn how to communicate effectively through blog posts. My best experience with a leader was at my current job at The Olde Farm golf clubFor large events our managers break the staff into teams to get specific jobs done. The managers always assign a leader for each group and assign a group to a task based on their specific strengths. If we ever have a problem or concern the managers are always willing to listen and take our suggestions into consideration. Their willingness to listen in the characteristic of a great leader.
Last May my younger brother, Gunnar, graduated from high school. Rain had been in the forecast for the entire week so everyone was a little hopeful for sunshine but dreading the possibility of bad weather. When we arrived at the graduation, which was taking place outside, the weather was holding off. I noticed that the school had not set up any proactive measures to keep the students dry on the field if it did start raining. The principal even told the students that they would not be permitted to wear rain jackets underneath their gowns. As soon as the ceremony began the clouds broke and a downpour came and the ceremony continued for the next hour. If I had been the coordinator for the graduation I would have rented tents for the students to sit under during the ceremony. This would have been a proactive measure that could have been beneficial. Even if it did not rain and it was sunny the tents would have kept the graduates cool and out of the sun. At this stage of the ePortfolio I do not have any questions. I am excited to continue working on this project and seeing the end result at the end of the semester.
