COMM 302: Reflections
This is the fourth class that I have needed an ePortfolio for. I did not have to create my ePortfolio from the ground up but I did spend a good amount of time curating it. I changed color schemes, photos, and updated my resume. New opportunities have crossed my path and I really wanted to create a more professional appearance than when I started this page almost three years ago.
To the right I have included a before and after photo of my 'Course Projects'' page as an example of how the theme and style of my page has evolved. Previously, my course projects were listed in a column that resembled the set up of my blog page. This time, I chose to create buttons that will link directly to each specific course project. For current projects, they will be featured on the right of the page. The most challenging part of curating my ePortfolio was thinking through what new information I wanted to include and how to present myself. My vision was for a clean yet interesting layout. The portfolio will continue to evolve throughout the course of the semester but I am happy with the way things look as of now.
I am confident in my online presence more so now than I was in the past. I have forgone linking to my personal social media. Instead, I have taken the opportunity to link to the Instagram accounts that I manage; Springible and The Virginian Golf Club. A few months ago I started as an intern for Resourceable Holdings, a media management company, and since then I have been named social media manager for the two previously mentioned companies. I am continuing to learn how to communicate with readers in a way that gains the most engagement and provides the best user experience. I hope that with time I can continue to develop my writing skills, something that I always wish to improve. As of now I do not have any questions about the project. I think the overall course project of creating a video and recording the presentation will be interesting. I am excited for this course and to finish out my last semester at Old Dominion University!
