End of Semester Overview
The yearlong ePortfolio project for this class was fun to work on. This project allowed me to dip into my creativity, something that I can’t always do in my other classes. What I like most about my ePortfolio is that it gives me a place to showcase my work all in one concise place. I would like to continue adding to and editing the tab where my personal campaign photos are. I will be able to add more photos to this after I secure a position with my marketing degree as I hope to be able to work on a marketing team that creates advertising for a sport team.
My ePortfolio represents some of my professional skills but not all of them. In the future I hope to add more and grow my portfolio as my career evolves. The most challenging aspect of the ePortfolio was creating a video and linking it to the blog. Speaking in front of a camera and producing a video was somewhat of a challenge since I had never done anything like that before. I ran out of time unfortunately and was unable to properly edit the video. So, in the near future I hope to take some digital media classes so that I will know how to edit videos and create media.
My advice for future students would be to have fun with this project but keep it professional. And don’t wait until the last minute to work on your assignments. This page is a reflection on you; you want to have time to put forth work that really shows who you are. I have never completed an ePortfolio before. This was my first time working with wix.
The coaching leadership style best suits my personal skills and goals. I always want to help others achieve their very best. I am consistently checking on others to make sure they understand what needs to be done and offering assistance if needed. I believe that the only way to have a great team is by all the team members being the best that they can be. That’s why coaching is such a great style. I will be an effective leader because of the leadership skills I have studied in the class. Not everyone can be a leader. Some people are born to be leaders but others, with the right skills, can be a leader. A leader is someone who others want to listen to and follow. Recently I received a promotion at my work. I am now a manager and the youngest person on the team at my job. Some of the older team members did not respond well to my promotion so it has been challenging to figure out how to lead effectively. I hope with the skills I have studied that I will be able to grow as a leader. My new knowledge of leadership will greatly influence how I approach event management. When dealing with large groups of people I have learned that the coaching style of leadership would best work for me. I always knew that communication was extremely important but I did not know the correct ways to communicate with others effectively. Each person listens and learns differently so it was interesting to study the different ways there is to communicate and which way would be most effective with each type of person. Through this course I have learned different communication techniques that will be utilized throughout the rest of my life in professional endeavors as well as personal.
